MAUREEN'S
NUTRITION KORNER 10
Here are a few suggestions for snack foods:
Peanut butter, almond butter or any nut butter on rice cakes
with honey and bananas.
Celery with peanut butter and raisins. Celery is very good for
your nerves and has natural sodium.
Split a banana down the middle and spread with peanut butter.
Enjoy a frozen banana. Peel before freezing.
Apples cut up with cinnamon and organic sugar or fructose.
almonds, walnuts, raisins, any mixed dried fruit. Almonds and
walnuts are the best nuts to eat.
Almond, Rice and soy milk are good alternatives for milk. Soy
milk like regular milk can be hard for some to digest. I like
almond milk that has chocolate, YES, chocolate---if dark is good
for you!
I take rice dream and heat it and add some nutmeg and
cinnamon for a tasty hot drink. ( comfort food) Cinnamon is
good for high cholesterol and very tasty.
Add to blender first and it makes a nice frothy( is that a word) drink.
Add cocoa or carob powder found in health store section. Making
a blender drink is fast and nutritious and can replace or add to
a meal. I have a Bullet for a blender they are advertised on TV.
Any blender will do.
So, to sum up.
Be creative with snack foods
carob powder/cocoa
