TRANSITION BRINGS TRANSFORMATION by Bishop Duane Swilley
Are you going through a time of change in your life? Change and Transition aren’t bad. In fact, we will be in transition till the day we die. Transition brings transformation. The word "transition" has 3 different senses:1. The act of passing from one state or place to the next. 2. An event that results in a transformation. 3. A change from one place or state or subject or stage to another. The prophet Elijah went through many changes in his life. In 1 Kings 17, he had just prophesied that no rain would fall on the land; there would be severe drought and famine. If God had left him there, he would have been caught in the consequences of the Word God spoke through him. There had to be a change. Sometimes change comes to bring us to a safe place and take care of us while we're there.
Then the word of the LORD came to Elijah: 1 Kings 17:3-6 "Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there."
Most of us don’t like these times of change, but if we have the attitude that Transition is a way to propel us into our destiny, every day becomes an exciting adventure.
1 Kings 17:7-8 Some time later the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land. Then the word of the LORD came to him: "Go at once to Zarephath of Sidon and stay there. I have commanded a widow in that place to supply you with food."
Elijah's brook dried up. His time at the brook had been transitional. Now God was about to move him into a completely different experience. Usually, God will not do things the same way more than once.
Think of surfing. You can never ride the same wave twice, and if you ride the wrong wave, it crashes in on you. If you fight Transition, you’ll miss Transformation and you’ll take a beating because the waves will come. Ride the wave---don’t fight it, and you’ll be amazed at how far it takes you.
In transition, you need to know what to hold on to and what to let go of. In Acts 27:18-19, Paul was caught in a violent storm on a ship with men who would have died if they hadn’t let go of the cargo and tackle. In fact, he had to urge them to even let go of the ship if they were to make it to safety.
They all made it, and you will too. Remember, when Jesus says “We’re going to the other side” you can be sure that He will get you there.

GOD HAS GOOD PLANS FOR YOUR FUTURE
know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out-- plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.
"When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I'll listen.
