I HAVE SET THE LORD BEFORE ME

I have set the LORD always before me:

 because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth:

my flesh also shall rest in hope. Psalm 16:8,9 / KJV

Picture yourself walking through a storm. You have a goal—a destination that you know is warm, safe and well lit. But, you still have to go through the storm to get there and the way is rough, slippery and sometimes very dark. The storm winds are howling and blasting against you; it’s hard to stand, let alone walk.

But, YOU, by your faith and trust, have set the Lord before you. He is in front of you, and also at your right hand. You only walk where He walks, so it doesn’t matter how dark it is. HE CAN SEE THE WAY AND HE LEADS YOU---STEP BY STEP SAFELY. And because He is also at your right hand, even if it is slippery, you know that He will not let you fall. He cares enough to be there and He is strong enough to hold up a billion times your weight. YOU WILL NOT BE MOVED OR BLOWN AWAY BY THE STORM.

 Because of this, although the storm is still raging all around you, your heart is glad and you rejoice in the glory of the Lord that rests upon you and within you as you walk with God. Your spirit is glad because even your flesh is calmed and hopes, controlled by the great trust you have in God which casts down all the fearful images of the dark stormy night.

The destination is nearer now and the Light ahead is brighter. The rain begins to let up, the winds die down and almost become soothing. You are safe and even warm, walking behind, and yet side by side, with your Lord and Savior, the strongest, kindest, most beautiful Being in the universe, Who gave His very life just so He could SAVE YOU and walk you through the storms. Straight ahead is your destiny and you begin to laugh with joy, realizing that nothing can stop you from getting to this wonderful place. You hear a lovely sound; Jesus is laughing with joy with you, as He looks at you with the greatest Love you have ever known.

Now you've got my feet on the life path,

    all radiant from the shining of your face.

    Ever since you took my hand,

    I'm on the right way.
