MAUREEN'S
NUTRITION KORNER
I am not a nutritional licensed
counselor. So, assuming that you are not diabetic or have a
health issue that requires a special diet, these nutritional
helps serve only to encourage better health. I have for many
years prayed and found out from the Lord what is a good and
balanced eating program. This is not a diet but rather a more
natural way of eating. Hopefully some of you are starting to
feel better and listening to your body.
As stated before WATER is so important and
don't start drinking when you are thirsty.Wake up each morning
with a positive affirmation and a full glass of either filtered
or distilled water. Keep hydrated!
Personally, I don't eat bread much and, when
I do, I eat Ezekiel 4:9 bread. It is found in the health section
of the store I shop.
I use crackers such as Ak-Mak or a rye
crisp or any cracker without so many fats. I use the cracker as
a sandwich. If I eat a pancake it is buckwheat or a whole grain
mix. I do not use white flour based mixes that have zero
nutritional value. I mentioned last week about Gluten
Intolerance. I have found that arthritic symptoms flare up with
bread. If you cannot use wheat there are breads such as rice
bread, millet bread and others for people with wheat
sensitivities. Contact a health food store for help in this
area.
Make changing your way of eating "SIMPLE"
Keep all simple and peace will abound. When I cook a pot of
beans I add 1 can stewed tomatoes and a package of vegetarian
chili spices that's it and it is simple. If a family member
likes onions and garlic add it later. When making soup I add 3
or four ingredients and that's it.
I like garbanzo beans ( in a can) they are
nice in a salad or added to soup. I build a lot of my meals on a
salad. I start with a nice lettuce or spinach and add whatever I
like to build a nice healthy meal. You can add strips of
chicken, meat or fish. I like olive oil/balsalmic vinegar and
garlic chopped fine.
Remember, your family members may not
embrace this change so begin with yourself. We can only change
ourself anyway, make available more nutritious snacks to eat
when hungry.
Listen to your body this week and see if
there are any offending foods..For me I ate cheese the other day
and got a mild headache. The additives in the cheese bothered
me. I have had many health challenges over the years and
choosing a better way to eat has helped a
lot.
God Bless you as you ask and receive God's
wisdom.
