Welcome to
the Nutritional Korner my hope is if you
have decided to change your way of eating
that you are feeling better.
Whenever you
change your way of eating from processed
foods to natural foods as GOD intended, you
will experience a "healing crisis". This is
normal as the body gets rid of the toxins.
Please make sure you are having bowel
movements and keeping your colon clean. If
not, there are many products in your health
food store to help. All you have to do is
ask for a bowel cleansing program.
Increasing water
will help too.
I spoke
before about shopping the outside perimeter
of the store. Always keep in mind that
fresh and less packaged altered food is best.
Wherever you live, eat what is in season.
For example, here in Idaho when cherries are
in season, we buy and eat a lot of cherries.
Now peaches are in season so we eat a lot of
peaches. Its nice to keep with the climate
and season for that particular fruit or
vegetable.
Make yourself
a nice big bowl of fruit salad or a plate of
raw vegetables. I like organic chicken.
Though it is more costly, I prefer the
organic. So, you can try organic---but, if
you have a large family to feed its not so
economical. I skin the chicken and bake in a
350 degree oven or add some olive oil to a
pan and fry. A small amount of oil is best.
Add some fresh ground pepper and garlic
powder or use rosemary or whatever herb you
like. Its also good plain with some sea
salt. Check your seasoning bottles and be
sure no added preservatives or monosodium
glutamate (MSG). If you use meat, use
a very lean piece and make the protein (such
as meat/chicken) as a staple along with
rice, potatoes or whatever carb you choose.
So a very small amount of meat, chicken or
fish is good.
Crackers and
rice cakes are a good substitute for bread.
Some people have a gluten intolerance so
this is a good choice.
Rice cakes
Ak-Mak crackers
Finn Crisp
Or whatever
cracker has just a few ingredients and are
in health section. All others too much fat
and salt. I like to spread peanut butter on
these crackers. I also buy apple butter to
spread. You can make a sandwich with a
cracker too. I buy the brand, Lundberg, rice
cakes and love the plain or sesame tamari. I
spread peanut butter ( watch brand) and some
apple butter or honey for a snack or at
lunch.
If you can,
browse through the health food store or
health dept. in your local supermarket and
try some new foods. You can find healthier
cookies, candies, crackers etc. for that
sweet tooth.
To sum up:
keep bowel
cleansed
crackers instead
of so much bread
fruit and
vegetables in season
organic chicken
to fry or bake
Getting more
