Greetings!
Last week I said I
would talk a bit about juicing. I have a
Juiceman Jr. that I purchased at Walmart. It
is good for 2 tall glasses of fresh juice.
You can juice both vegetables and fruits.
For those who are in a wheelchair or cannot
stand long enough to juice, maybe you can
get a friend or family member to help
you---and they too will receive the benefits
of raw juice.
Some suggestions:
organic is best, but store-bought will be
fine.
Carrot, celery, fresh
ginger root ( about 1/2 inch long)
Carrot, small piece of
beet, apples
carrot, spinach ( small
piece) apples, piece of lemon
washed, you can use skin.
Just experiment! Please
though just use a small amount of beet as it
hits the liver quickly. Also, fresh fruits
are great! When you have made 3/4 of a
glass, fill the rest with water.
I suggest brown rice,
potatoes ( preferably red) and,
sometimes, I bake a regular potato. The
red's have less starch. I also bake yams and
sweet potatoes and use butter sparingly, if
at all.
Remember to use
color and variety in your diet just as God
made them. The closest to natural the
better. So, a good dinner would be a nice
salad like mentioned last week, a baked
potato (try some salsa on the potato)
or put some salad right in the potato.
I love using a
crockpot as it makes cooking so easy. I
soak beans, such as pinto or black beans,
overnight and then, in the morning, I put
them in crockpot and turn it on high. Add
some seasonings and a can of stewed
tomatoes. I use about 3 cups of beans and
then "guess" on the water! When I cook brown
rice, I make extra and then add it to the
beans or have it on the side. Beans and rice
are a complete protein.
I hope these tips are
serving you well. For several years, I've
worked on finding foods that were healthy
and easy to prepare. Whatever is closest to
natural is always best.
Any suggestions are very
welcome!
