LET IT GO
“For if ye forgive men their
trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But
if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your
Father forgive your trespasses.”
Matthew 6: 14, 15
King James Version
When I lived in Oklahoma, I used to have a dog that would
bury his bones and then dig them up again. We do the same
thing with forgiveness. We tell people we forgive them, but
we dig the bones up again. How dare you and I ask God to
forgive us for our trespasses when we are not willing to
forgive others?
If ever someone had a right and a reason to not forgive, it
is Jesus! He never did anything wrong and yet He was
attacked viciously not only physically, but emotionally. He
didn’t have to forgive us, but because Jesus is Love, He
made the choice to forgive us. When Jesus forgives us for
something, He buries the bone and never digs it up again.
We can be so self righteous at times. We think that we are
right, and everybody else is wrong. We need to realize that
we hurt other people also. None of us are perfect. All of us
fail Jesus and hurt our family, loved ones and friends at
times. We need to let go of the unforgiveness in our hearts
once and for all.
I don’t know about you but when I see Jesus, I want to be
able to look Him in the Eyes with a clean heart knowing that
while I hurt other people, I didn’t do it on purpose. How is
your heart today? Is it filled with hatred and unforgiveness?
Let’s bury the bones of unforgiveness and leave them buried.
If Jesus, the Saviour of the world Who suffered anguish and
pain that you and I will never experience is willing to
forgive us, then how much more should we forgive others.
