A BROKEN HEART
“Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye
sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly
manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. For
godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be
repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.”
2 Corinthians 7: 9, 10
King James Version
I used to be happy if I hurt someone’s feelings after he or
she had hurt me. Then, after I was saved I was sorry that I
hurt them in return. However, the closer I get to Jesus and
the more I grow to love Him, my heart breaks when I realize
that I have hurt Him. Now when I hurt others, even if I
don’t do it on purpose, I literally get nauseous. I know
that when I hurt others, I am hurting the Heart of Jesus.
People who commit a crime are sorry when they are caught,
children are sorry when they are caught skipping school, and
when we miss an appointment we are sorry. However, this
passage of Scripture is talking about a sorrow that breaks
your heart.
If you have ever looked in the eyes of a parent after
someone has said or done something to hurt their children,
then you see a mixture of emotions. You see anger, hurt, and
disbelief. I don’t want Jesus to look at me with Eyes of
hurt because I have said or done something to hurt one of
His children.
If you only feel a little uncomfortable when you hurt
someone and then just forget about it, I urge you to search
your heart because that is not godly sorrow. Every one of us
should dedicate our lives to making Jesus happy. If ever
someone deserves to be happy, it is my Best Friend, Jesus.
